Not the kind you're thinking of. According to the rabbis of the Talmud, the sin of Sodom, for which God destroyed the place, was this:
There were four judges in Sodom, [named] Shakrai [Liar], Shakurai [Awful Liar], Zayyafi [Forger], and Mazle Dina [Perverter of Justice]. ... If one wounded his neighbour they would say to him [the victim], 'Give him a fee for bleeding thee.' B. Sanh. 109b
Sound familiar?
The rabbis gave other examples of Sodom's bad behavior (sex with other men is NOT on the list), but they all up to this - ill treatment of the poor and the stranger.
If a poor man happened to come there, every resident gave him a denar, upon which he wrote his name, but no bread was given him. When he died, each came and took back his.
They made this agreement amongst themselves: whoever invites a man [a stranger] to a feast shall be stripped of his garment.
A certain maiden gave some bread to a poor man, [hiding it] in a pitcher. On the matter becoming known, they daubed her with honey and placed her on the parapet of the wall, and the bees came and consumed her.

Of the many examples of the Republicans behaving like Sodomites, this one stands out: KY-Sen: Rand Paul's curbstomper wants an apology. That is so exactly described by the Talmud's "Give him a fee for bleeding thee" that I had to put this diary up. Ditto for Joe Miller, who blamed reporter Tony Hopfinger for being handcuffed by Miller's thugs.
And the way the Republicans look at the poor and those who try to help them, such as ACORN, sure sounds a lot like what the Sodomites did to that maiden who gave bread to a poor man.
Thus it is written, And the Lord said, The cry of Sodom and Gomorrah, because it is great: whereon Rab Judah commented in Rab's name: On account of the maiden.
